Our Mission

TRANSFORMING STIGMA INTO SUPPORT;

from awareness to action.

Period First Aid’s mission is to shift conversations about menstruation from taboo and “inappropriate” to shame-free and accessible, and to turn that conversation into concrete implementation. We see menstrual care as first aid: a basic, urgent need which has not been granted the same immediacy and respect as many other form of healthcare issues.

Awareness and Education
Period First Aid exists to reframe how we teach and talk about periods. We create youth- and community-centered workshops, curricula, and online content that make menstrual health clear, accessible, and shame-free. By starting real conversations in classrooms, affinity groups, community spaces, and on social media, we help people of all backgrounds see that their experiences are valid and that period poverty is not a personal burden, but a shared issue that should be addressed and remedied.

Action and Access
Education is only the first step. Period First Aid supports organizations that distribute free menstrual products through schools, shelters, and community groups, with a focus on under-resourced communities where access is most limited. As an official chapter of PERIOD., we also work for legislative change that removes barriers like the tampon tax, expands free products in public spaces, and recognizes menstrual care is a universal, fundamental human right. Our goal is simple: no one should have to step back from school, work, or daily life because basic menstrual care is out of reach.
